Regattas & Yacht Meets
The RACYC holds two regattas a year - at Seaview, Isle of Wight and Kiel, Germany. Both regattas are open to crews from RAC regiments (Regular and Yeomanry), RAC training and support units and ad hoc organisations with an RAC pedigree. The
RAC Sail Training Week (STW) took place in the Baltic from 9 to 16 Apr
08.
The STW was a joint RAC/RE STW which would combine RYA Competent
Crew and continuation training with some ‘round the cans’ and
passage races.
4 Yachts were taken by RAC crews and 3 by RE crews.

Armour Centre The
programme for the week was based upon the initial two days concentrating
on basic competent crew and continuation training followed by 3 days of
racing.
Competent crew and continuation training continued during passage
races and whilst in harbour. RACING Racing
commenced on Sat 12 Apr in the Als Fjord area north of Sonderborg
followed by a passage race to Assens.
Similar racing took place on Sun 13 Apr with a passage race to
Faaborg in very light airs followed by a competent crew training night
entry into port.
On Mon the novice helm race took place off the RESULTS A
total of 13 races were held during the week.
QRH skippered by a BKYC Staff skipper were the overall winners of
the Regatta and 9/12L, also skippered by a BKYC staff skipper won the
Cavalier cup as winners of the passage race series. Ct Matt Patterson
QRH won the novice helm race. Individual race results are attached.
