Regattas & Yacht Meets
The RACYC holds two regattas a year - at Seaview, Isle of Wight and Kiel, Germany. Both regattas are open to crews from RAC regiments (Regular and Yeomanry), RAC training and support units and ad hoc organisations with an RAC pedigree. Details of yacht meets will be posted on the website.
Information about the Cups & Trophies can be found in the History section.
Seaview 2010 Regatta - Report and Results: The 2010 RAC Seaview Regatta was held over the period 10-12 May. This year, the 11 teams were blessed with good winds of 12-18kts on the main day of racing. The odd "goffer" was even observed to soak crews, in a remarkable upturn from the usual calm, drifting conditions. Normal service was resumed however on Wed 12th. However, throughout the regatta, the sun shone and spirits were high.
This year saw close competitive racing across the differing standards of crews within the fleet. 1RTR, 2RTR and the CIS school fought hard for the overall lead, and it all came down to the final race. At the back of the fleet, Scots DG and LD "B" teams also tussled hard to avoid the wooden spoon. The enjoyment on the water was matched off it with the usual civilised atmosphere, convivial company, and an excellent annual club dinner on Tues night for some 45 members.
Looking forward to next year, we would urge all members to consider fielding a team for this cult event. The Regatta will have the same slot just after Cav Mem weekend thus allowing Germany based units to stay in UK a few extra days and enter. Teams from those at ERE or retired members are also very welcome. Finally it is worth noting that Mermaids are simple, traditional and forgiving boats to sail, and provide an excellent racing experience for novices and experts alike. We hope to see you in 2011!

The RACYC is currently consulting all interested parties as to the best way forward for RAC Regatta Kiel in the light of an ever reducing number of RAC regiments in Germany and the current operational tempo.
